Computer Repair

Fixing computers can be a very lucrative home business in the present environment where computers have become as common as a TV set in most households while most commercial organizations use computers for their accounting, billing and word processor work.

As most of the time you will be doing the computer repair work at your client's place, you can run this business from your home where you can set aside some work space in case you have to do the job that cannot be done at the customer locations.

Thorough knowledge of computer technology and the ability of finding why a computer does not work and what components to replace or what changes to make in the machine configuration is required for success in this work. You can get this know-how by doing computer courses, reading various books on the subject and, most important, by doing actual trouble shooting work to get hands-on experience.

For getting practical experience, you may get an old computer and tinker with it. Or better still work with somebody who is doing regular computer repair work.

This way you will get to learn firsthand various kinds of faults that usually occur with computers and how to fix them.

Another advantage of working with somebody else in the beginning is that you will meet various customers and learn how to deal with them. This is because as computer repair is customer-oriented work, your success depends as much upon as your technical knowledge as upon your ability to interact with customers and giving them satisfaction which can result in repeat work offers and word of mouth of publicity for you with their relatives and friends.
