Learn to choose the best paid work opportunities suited to your skills
and needs
Do It Yourself:
Find Paid Work At Home Yourself
I have presented
various work options to earn income from the comfort of your home on
this site. They range from the easy-to-earn programs and paid online
surveys to building a web site.
While there are some
suggested programs on all these pages, I have asked you to look for
some other programs also yourself. This page takes the process
further. It aims to give you total control of choosing the right
programs without relying on anybody else.
Pick and Choose the
Best
Here is a way to find any opportunity of your choice yourself and
also investigate to see if it meets with your requirements.
Moreover, by this way
you can find many job opportunities which are not included on this
site. For example, you can earn online income from such
work as
telecommuting, data entry, data conversion, medical transcription,
medical coding and billing, secretarial work, accounting work,
translation, proofreading. You can find any of the above
options using this method.
Here's how to choose your own job:
1. Learn what kind of work is in demand
The way to do this is to look at ads featuring work at home or
earning opportunities that you come across. This will tell you what
type of work is currently in demand. Ads can also alert you to ways
of earning that you may not have thought of before.
When you find something that sounds interesting, note the the url of
the site or bookmark them in your favorites folder so you can come
back to it later for looking at it more deeply.
Add to your finds by a search on an engine, like Google.
Suggested search keywords: Work at home,
work-at-home, paid work on the net.
Suggested search keywords for specific type of work: data entry,
paid surveys, online surveys, proofreading, medical billing,
medical transcription, medical coding, data conversion, medical
transcription, medical billing, coding, accounting,
telecommuting, proofreading, etc.
I have found that putting keywords in quotes, like
"work+at+home", gives more targeted results. Try different
combinations with or without quotes and + signs between the
words.
2. Shortlist
If you search around ten to fifteen sites (more if you like) as
above, you would find some that look promising. Make a shortlist
of these sites. These are the probable candidates that you will
look at very closely to find the opportunity you are looking
for.
3. Investigate
To make your final choice, probe each opportunity
on your shortlist very closely as follows:
Learn about the
scheme: explore the site thoroughly. Learn how the scheme works and what
work you would be required to do.
Do you have to pay
for joining? Ideally there should be no fee for getting a job, but most
such sites ask for a start-up fee, saying that they need this for maintaining
the members' database and keeping out those who are not serious. So if you
have to pay, do check if there is a money-back guarantee in case you
want to back out.
What will you earn?
See if the rate of pay offered is realistic and adequate in relation to the
work you would be required to do. It should not be too low or high. Shun a
site which promises thousands in a week or a month.
Where is the work
and money coming from? A site should get a steady amount of work from
third parties to give out to its members. Be very careful with a site without
a steady external source of income except the joining fees of new members.
Does the site look
professional? While a site with a good look is no guarantee of its
genuineness, a sloppy-looking site is a definite negative.
Is there a forum?
If so, take time to read what others are saying about the opportunity.
See if there are posts from members complaining about non-payment or late
payment for their work. Ask searching questions in the forum and see what
response you get.
Does the site
provide support? Ask some questions to the support. See if your concerns
and questions are dealt with speedily and satisfactorily.
FAQs and Terms and
Conditions. Go through these carefully. See if there is something in the
Terms and Conditions which is not suitable to you because you will be
agreeing to them if you decide to join.
Look at the
Testimonials but with a pinch of salt.
Don't solely rely on them to make your decision to join. Testimonials from
people without a means of contacting them may or may not be genuine.
Contact
information. Does the site give info about its owners, where can they be
reached by postal mail, fax and phone? Be very cautious with a site which
doesn't provide such information or provides only an email id as a means of
contact.
The above suggestions
are by no means exhaustive. Think up more ways to investigate an opportunity and
apply them also before making your final choice. In short, take as much care
as possible.
Beware of fraud
Unfortunately there is a lot of fraud on the net. So be
cautious when you have to pay for joining some opportunity. Make use of the
anti-fraud resources given below:
Anti-fraud resources:
Use the following
internet anti-fraud agencies to investigate a work at home
opportunity before joining.
Also search for other antifraud sites and services on
the net and use them.
Opportunities requiring specialized skills
Work options like medical billing, coding and transcription offer higher rates
of pay, but they require specialized skills. If you are interested in such
opportunities, try to learn as much as possible about them before taking any
action. Find out how you could acquire these skills, what investment you have to
make and what is the scope of job availability.
Are you sure to find a real opportunity in this way?
These are just suggestions to find a good opportunity. I have used this method
myself and found it helpful but that is not to say that it is a guaranteed
fool-proof method to find a scam-free opportunity. Please keep this in mind
while following the above suggestions or joining an opportunity. And be extra
careful before paying money.
